BRIDGEPORT ART CENTER proudly announces a call for artists for POP!, curated by Zak Blatt and Marci Rubin, that will be exhibited in our distinguished 4th Floor Gallery.

POP! art embraces a romance with popular modern culture while simultaneously critiques the commodity driven practices and values of consumerism. POP! Art imagery is inspired by cultural icons, and personalities to fashion and design trends from commonplace objects. POP! art is distinguished by bright eye-catching colors, and recognizable imagery that incorporates innovative artistic techniques. These techniques and materials implemented from signage, advertising, packaging, symbols, and branding, to fashion and all aspects of design(graphic/interior), are adapted to produce mixed media/collage, painting/drawing/printmaking, photography/video, and installation/sculptural based art works. Artworks featured in POP! stimulate conversations regarding these popular cultural trends, past present & future.

ELIGIBILITY: POP! is open to artists 18 years of age and older, at all stages in their careers, and who are living or working within 150 miles of the City of Chicago.
