The Bridgeport Art Center proudly announces a call for artists for In Conversation with Dale Washington; Curated by Sejah Washington, Makeba Kedem-DuBose, Marci Rubin. This exhibition will be exhibited in our distinguished 4th Floor Gallery.
In Conversation with Dale Washington, an upcoming art exhibition curated by Makeba Kedem-DuBose, Messejah Washington, and Marci Rubin, dedicated to late visual artist Dale Washington. The exhibition will be hosted at the Bridgeport Art Center from July 19th to September 6th, 2024. On view will be selected works from Dale’s prolific portfolio including early works & pieces from his last years in Portland. This exhibition celebrates Dale’s breadth of work including his drawings, paintings and mixed media pieces sought after by private collectors in the Chicagoland community. In Conversation with Dale Washington features artworks by his son, Messejah Washington, Dale’s friends & contemporaries and a legacy of artists whose work is inspired by Dale’s unique style.
Silent auction sales from Dale Washington’s works will benefit The Dale Washington non for profit, an organization dedicated to providing help to sustain the careers of artists throughout the Chicagoland area.
ELIGIBILITY:
Works of art inspired by the late Dale Washington. Open to sculpture, drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, & mixed media/installation-based pieces accepted.
Dale Washington, a talented and prolific abstract expressionist, showcased vibrant life across diverse mediums. From powerful self-portraits illuminating his inner self to emotive landscapes and jazz scenes, his works were a symphony of expression. At his Hyde Park Studio’s Sunday dinner parties, he captured the essence of the Chicago art scene through expressive group portraits, featuring the luminaries of the era.

HANGING FEE: $25 1-5 images
COMMISSION ON WORKS SOLD: 10% benefitting The Dale Washington non for profit
DELIVERY OF ARTWORK: Accepted artists must deliver their work to the Bridgeport Art Center Thurs July 11th, 2024, 1-5pm
